I wonder if there are unofficial mods.You are limited to 300 buildings, but that can be solved somewhat with colonies, which IIRC give +40 limit per. But you are limited to 5 colonies.To solve the issue of ore depletion, the exploration vehicles are helpful, and then the colonies can send resources via custom trade routes.

But combined with the standard trade ones, you can only have 22 trade routes total, so you can't import even 3 colonies' worth with that.The game does start to significantly lag when placing roads the more buildings and roads you have (I guess it just wasn't optimized for large cities).-I suppose, however, that at a certain point, more nanite production becomes just superfluous as you only need it for producing consume goods and maintaining structures, which is a relatively slow burn.I am on Mission 4 currently. I am trying to max out every statistic other than population (food amount/quality/variety, goods, health, water, air quality, etc.), and so far, with only half the map, I have nearly been able to do so.I can probably fill the entire map if I am smart about what buildings I place, although I won't be able to convert most of my tunnels to decorations.Just won re-election with 100% of the vote.

Unfortunately, not everyone understands or accepts these trade-offs, and this led to a certain small minority of users with below-minimum PC specs building massive colonies at 8x game speed with the graphics settings turned up to the max and being surprised that it didn't run at a consistent 60 fps.So we eventually added a SOFT limit of 300 buildings + 40 per remote settlement (= max 500) on PC. I'm not playing this game currently. I just wanted you to see what the developer posted.

I'm not running a 4K monitor just a HD monitor with a GTX1070 and a SSD. You didn't say if you have a GTX or RTX. RTX has problems with some games. I don't know about for this game. I remember trading but not the specifics on it anymore. I think they can only trade one item at a time per ship dock or whatever they called it. You may have to wait for them to return from space before setting a new trade item.
